Report to the University

If you do not wish to pursue criminal charges, you are encouraged to file a report with the university. Whether or not you choose to file a report with law enforcement, the University will offer a variety of options for assistance to you.

Reporting to the University provides you with the option of addressing the incident under several University Policies to include, but not limited to the TTU System Regulation 07.06 Sexual MisconductTTU OP 76.10 Violence and Workplace Threat, and the TTU Student Handbook

Incidents reported to the University are investigated in accordance with the TTU System Regulation 07.06 Sexual Misconduct. A report to the University also allows for the initiation of interim protective measures such as academic accommodations, changes to housing, and changes to class or work schedules.

The information below provides the ways in which a report can be made to various University reporting structures. You can bring someone with you to support you while making a report, including but not limited to a friend, roommate, or family member.

Office for Student Civil Rights & Sexual Misconduct (Title IX)

Texas Tech is committed to providing its students, faculty, and staff with an education and workplace environment free from any form of unlawful discrimination. The Texas Tech community is dedicated to fostering and supporting a culture of mutual respect and communication.

Texas Tech University does not tolerate and prohibits discrimination or harassment of students based on, or related to, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity), race, national origin, religion, age, disability, protected veteran status, or other protected categories, classes, or characteristics. Actions related to admission, discipline, housing, extracurricular and academic opportunities shall not be made based on a student's protected status. Discriminatory behavior is prohibited regardless of the manner in which it is exhibited, whether verbally, in writing, or electronically displayed or conveyed. Individuals who violate these policies and laws are subject to disciplinary action, up to, and including, expulsion.

Employee Obligations

Employees who are told about a crime or have knowledge of a crime that occurred on campus should report this information using the CSA FORM. For incidents of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking, all TTU employees are required under SB 212 to complete the TITLE IX FORM. 

Student Conduct

The Office of Student Conduct meets with both undergraduate and graduate students to address potential violations of the Code of Student Conduct and encourages students to be ethical, independent and well-rounded individuals. Campus Security Authority

Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) assist in the reporting of crime on campus. CSA is a Clery-specific term that includes four groups of individuals or organizations within the university. Throughout the year, Campus Security Authorities report Clery reportable crimes through the Campus Security Authority Incident Report Form. Each of these reports is reviewed by the Clery Compliance Director to confirm that it meets the requirements under the Clery Act. Reports submitted using the above form is not a police report. Clery Compliance may consult with TTPD for purposes of initiating established procedures related to Clery Act compliance. While the University has identified a number of CSAs, the following offices are officially designated as places where campus community members can report crimes:
