Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Christopher Weiss

Education

  • B.S. Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 1997
  • M.S. Meteorology, University of Oklahoma, Norman, 2000
  • Ph.D. Meteorology, University of Oklahoma, Norman, 2004

Research

  • Severe storm dynamics and tornadogenesis
  • Dryline structure and convection initiation
  • Radar Meteorology
  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems

My primary research interests include severe storm dynamics and tornadogenesis, the initiation and sustenance of deep moist convection, particularly as related to High Plains drylines, and radar meteorology. We use a number of computational and observational resources, such as the TTUKa mobile Doppler radars and StickNet observing platforms, to accomplish research objectives in these areas.

Courses

  • ATMO 1300 - Introduction to Atmospheric Science
  • ATMO 2316 - Severe and Hazardous Weather
  • ATMO 5316 - Dynamics of Severe Storms
  • ATMO 5327 - Radar Meteorology
