I use remote sensing data, state-of-art numerical models, and machine learning methods to investigate both the natural and artificial sources of the earth's surface deformation, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami genesis, oil/gas wastewater injection, geothermal energy production, etc. These investigations help better understand the underlying geomechanical and hydrogeological processes within the shallow crust and allow us to provide key information about human-induced and natural hazards to communities at risk. Some of these processes further engage with climate changes and sea-level rises to impact the coastal populations.
