What inspired you to get a degree in Interior Design from Texas Tech University?
I have always considered myself to have an appreciation for art and design. I used
to want to be an architect--but when I toured the Department of Design and learned
more about the Interior Design program, I realized that I could have an influence
on [the entire] built environment where people live and interact day-to-day. The thought
of having that impact on people fascinated and excited me. Design and space planning
has always been a creative outlet and exciting challenge for me, so I firmly believe
I made the right choice to pursue this degree and make a career out of it.
How did the ID program prepare you for your current role?
The program gave me a foundation of knowledge that allows me to make day-to-day decisions
regarding the functionality and overall aesthetic of a space. It also provided me
with introductions to the industry I currently work in. Not only has it provided the
skills to do my job, but it further instilled a passion and appreciation for what
I get to do every single day.
Would you recommend this program to current and prospective students? If so, why?
Yes!
