Master of Science in Kinesiology

Overview

The Master of Science degree in Kinesiology offers two concentrations that allow students to direct their learning experience towards their career goal: Exercise Physiology and Human Performance. The Exercise Physiology concentration is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in allied health. The Human Performance concentration is designed to prepare students for careers specializing in maximizing health and physical performance. Both concentrations can also lead to a Ph.D. in those respectives fields.

Each concentration contains a unique curriculum, but allows elective courses to be included so that students have the flexibility to take courses that may meet their personal interests or goals. Both concentrations take two years (four long semesters) to complete and require a minimum of 36 credit hours to earn the Master's of Science degree.

After being accepted into the program, students are partnered with an academic adviser who will assist in course planning. Additional learning experiences are offered to students including teaching and research opportunities. University and departmental scholarships and travel stipends are also available for students to attend and present their research at regional or national conferences.
