Space Planning & Inventory
About Space Planning & Inventory
Space Planning & Inventory (SPI) is responsible for efficient and functional space
planning solutions for the 9.5 million square feet owned and operated by TTU while
balancing the needs of the university as a whole. SPI is also accountable for the
development and maintenance of the TTU Internal Space Model, space performance metrics
and key performance indicators for efficiency. This includes supporting the Space
Allocation Committee, maintaining the Facilities Inventory, executing Relocation Services,
providing Graphics support, managing the General Purpose Classroom Project and overseeing
Event Scheduling.
The Space Planning function of SPI provides support, strategic planning, and functional
solutions for the university's spaces as its colleges and departments grow and change.
The development of the TTU Space Model and the Space Management Usage Guide (SMUG)
were derived from the methodology used by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board (THECB).
Relocations & Graphics
Relocation projects are handled internally by SPI staff. SPI manages the day-to-day
operational aspects of these projects to ensure that projects are completed on time
and within budget constraints.
Project details include:
- Furniture, Fixture and Equipment Floor Plans
- Minor Construction Coordination
- Data/Electrical/Telephone/Fax Needs
- Packing Supplies
- Vendor Management
- Moving Services Coordination
Facilities Inventory
Facilities Inventory's mission is to provide accurate/real-time facilities information
in a variety of formats. This will promote information exchange regarding facilities
composition and utilization to maximize resource acquisition, ensure beneficial stewardship
of facilities, and enhance decision making.

Event & Instructional Space Management
The Event and Instructional Space Management (EISM) team maintains and manages the
scheduling of events in academic space on TTU Campus. Reservation requests are managed
by SPI staff and are granted based on availability and the priorities of the desired
space. In addition, EISM manages the Raider Rooms project, a selection of classrooms
designed to serve the entire TTU campus community by providing standardized equipment,
technology and resources.
