Texas Tech University

Red Raider #1: Sponsors

Corporate Donations

The test well would not be possible without the generous donations from private industry. Various companies from West Texas provided us with approximately $425,000 of equipment and services to aid us in the drilling and completion of the well bore component of the test well.

Officials from the Edward E. Whitacre Texas Tech University College of Engineering and the Bob L. Herd Department of Petroleum Engineering made a presentation to corporate sponsors of the test well on April 5, 2002 at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion.

Thanks to our sponsors, the future development of the well will include additional equipment to evaluate horizontal well productivity as well as offshore technologies.

Equipment Donations

According to Dr. James Cox, assistant professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, who spearheaded the project, the equipment donated will include:

  • crude oil and water storage tanks
  • gas pipeline connection
  • pump stations
  • metering and measurement packages
  • separation and treating units
