All-Girl/Small-CoEd Cheer Tryouts

 

All-Girl Cheer

The All-Girl/Small CoEd Cheer Squad is comprised of talented cheerleaders.

The All-Girl/Small-Coed Squad performs at home football games, women's home volleyball games, women's home basketball games, and women's soccer games. In addition, All-Girl Cheer will the have opportunity to travel to post season football bowl games, Big 12 tournament basketball games, and NCAA/NIT basketball tournament games. The squad also represents Texas Tech at many university and community events throughout the year. Beginning in 2024, All-Girl/Small-CoEd will compete with NCA.

After tryout selection process, Coaches will determine squad competition division. Options include, but not limited to, competing All-Girl or combining squads to make a Small-CoEd competition team. 

2024-2025 All-Girl/Small-CoEd Tryouts

Preliminary/Qualifity Videos Due: Friday, April 19, 2024 by 5:00 PM CST.

Finalists Announced/Invitiations Sent by Friday, April 26, 2024.

Live/In-Person Final Tryout Selections: May 10-12 (invitation only)

Female participants must choose which squad to tryout for - CoEd or All-Girl. Tryouts happen at the same time. At end of tryouts, Coach has right to change and award position on opposite squad if needed and sees a better fit. Please consider possible competition options with a formation of a Small-CoEd team.

What's the difference between squads? All-Girl is consisted of all-female cheerleaders stunting in female groups. CoEd consists of male and female cheerleaders with the males stunting with the female flyers.

Cheerleaders will NOT be able to participate in Fall Sorority Recruitment activities.

2024-2025 Tryout Requirements

  • Complete Cheer Tryout Application
    *We are aware of an technical issue related to application. We are working to fix issue. 
  • First-Year & Transfer Students
    Must be Accepted to TTU for 2024-2025 academic year
    • TTU First-Year Admissions
    • TTU Transfer Admissions
    • Students may participate in Summer Gateway.
    • TTU Health Sciences Center students are unable to participate in tryouts. This is for upper-level/graduate students only. Undergraduate health career paths are able to tryout & cheer. You will be under TTU for your undergraduate program first.
  • Current TTU students:
    • Enrolled full time (Undergraduate: 12 hours, Graduate: 9 hours)
    • Cumulative & Current GPA of 2.0 or above
  • Current Health Insurance
    (a copy of insurance card must be presented at tryout check-in)
  • A detailed copy of program expectations will be provided via email and discussed with finalists.
  • Tryout Application Fee ($45)
  • Submit Qualifying Video by Deadline (preliminary round)
  • Receive Invitation to Attend In-Person/Live Tryouts (semi-final & final tryouts)
    • Invitation Only
    • May 10-12, 2024
    • Please note, the live/in-person tryout selections will occur same weekend at Texas Tech's commencement ceremonies. Therefore, we suggest getting hotel early and making adjustments if needed later.
    • Communication will be via email that was provided on application. Please make sure you have access to and it is correct.
    • Tryout selection process is closed to public.
    • Head Coach has final selection in squad make and size.
      Estimated 21 females; with possible 4 males if Small CoEd is comprised. 
    • Score sheets will not be released. Selections are based on a combination of scoring/point system, skills assessmets, potential, character review, and purpose for being on our squad. Coaches have final say. 

All-Girl/Small-CoEd Tryout Attire

  • Black Spandex Shorts
  • Solid Black Fitted Top or Sports Bra
    (small logos are acceptable)
  • Cheer Shoes
  • 2 1/4 inch White Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Hair 1/2 up, curled
  • Make-Up Gameday Ready, collegiate image (no glitter)

The All-Girl Cheer Squad will have practices during the summer - contingent on being released to participate in activities again. Attendance is mandatory for squad members. Dates subject to change, finalized with new squad at meeting.
