Degree Requirements

Students completing the Education degree should follow the coursework requirements outlined in the degree plan documents for the specified certification area. Courses are not required to be taken in the specific order for the first two years. The classes in year three and year four makeup the coursework to complete the Educator Preparation Program or TechTeach. These courses must be taken in the sequence outlined in the corresponding document.

Completion of all of the coursework will complete the requirements for the Education degree and for the Educator Preparation Program. Completion of the coursework related to Educator Preparation is a major portion of the requirement for completing teacher certification.

Degree requirements also include: 42 hours of upper division coursework, 9 hours of communication literacy, 2 years of High School or 2 Semesters of College Level Foreign Language and a multicultural course. Following the plan as outlined will complete the requirements, except the foreign language if not completed in high school.

Students must maintain a 2.75 GPA and pass all courses with a C or above.
