Linda Donahue: Retirement Reboot

Associate professor and head of School of Theatre and Dance arts administration program Linda Donahue was planning to retire at the end of the 2019-20 academic year. She had announced her plans to travel to Spain with her husband for an extended vacation. Tickets had been purchased, reservations had been made, and all the arrangements were falling into place when suddenly everything went sideways.

A Book on Butoh: Dancing in the Americas

Tanya Calamoneri, assistant professor in the School of Theatre and Dance, has dedicated much of the last two decades to studying butoh’s transformation from a form of protest street art into a dance aesthetic exported across the world to the Americas. Her book, "Butoh America," which is set to publish in 2021, profiles contemporary artists who have incorporated butoh’s now-recognizable attributes into their own arts as protest.

A Bit of Fate Leads to a Big Move

Moving to Lubbock from Dubai to attend the Texas Tech University School of Theatre and Dance isn’t necessarily the most obvious path for a mechanical engineering graduate. Yet that is the path taken by MFA student Jehan Hormazdi, who began in the Arts Administration program this fall.
