Undergraduate Research Scholars

The URS Program provides Texas Tech undergraduates with opportunities often reserved for graduate or advanced professional levels. Scholars:

  • Conduct year-round STEM research with faculty mentors
  • Present and publish their work
  • Participate in leadership, service, and professional development through the Scholar Service Organization (SSO)

Key Features:

  • Year-round application process (Interviews begin at the start of each semester)
  • Access to paid research assistant positions
  • Opportunities to lead STEM community initiatives and events

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
 
  • Be full-time TTU undergraduates in good academic standing
  • Show interest in STEM research and service
  • Be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or hold valid work-eligible visas
  • Commit to long-term research involvement during the academic year
  • Have a faculty mentor at TTU or TTUHSC
  • Have at least three months of prior research experience and a faculty recommendation letter at the time of application
