The Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering and FIRSTInTexas Hosts Biggest Robotic Competition Ever
On February 17th, The Whitacre College of Engineering STEM Outreach & Engagement Program and FIRSTInTexas worked to provide one of the biggest robotics competitions ever hosted by the college at the new Lubbock-Cooper Liberty High School! At this event, 48 robotics teams from cities such as Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa, El Paso, and more came to compete for a spot at the Texas State Championship and Texas UIL Championship in Belton, Texas in late March.
Schools and organizations from all over West & Panhandle Texas have been designing, building, programming, and showcasing robots that they use to compete in the FIRST Tech Challege robotics program, a STEM based program provided by FIRST and supported by the Whitacre College of Engineering STEM Outreach & Engagement Program for high school and middle school students.
February 17th marked an important milestone for robotics and STEM-based programming for West Texas and the Whitacre College of Engineering is proud to play such a crucial role in supporting and building the next generation of innovators and leaders in STEM!
