Tim Tsang joined the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering as an assistant professor in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering starting this fall. He earned a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering from Lehigh University after completing a bachelors and masters degrees in risk management science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Tsangs research has been recognized with the Van Hoesen Family Best Publication Award and as a finalist for the INFORMS Junior Faculty Interest Group Paper Prize, along with his doctoral advisor.
His work focuses on data-driven stochastic optimization, including the development of uncertainty modeling paradigms and computationally efficient algorithms for large-scale optimization models. His primary application areas include financial risk management, healthcare operations research and transportation.
Outside the classroom and lab, Tsang enjoys music from classical, jazz, to J-Pop. He plays piano and earned his LTCL diploma in piano performance as an undergraduate.
