The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) covers federal and state financial
aid opportunities. If you meet the FAFSA filing requirements, then you should submit the FAFSA.
The Texas Application for Student Financia Aid (TASFA) is a financial aid application for students who are classified as Texas Residents but who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA but may qualify for state financial aid through HB 1403 or SB 1528.

Apply for State Financial Aid
The TASFA usually opens October 1st each year, but for 2024-2025 the paper TASFA will be available in December at the same time the FAFSA opens and he electronic TASFA will be available in February 2024. The priority deadline is usually January 15th, but for the 2024-2025 the date has been extended to April 15, 2024.
The Senate Bill 1528 Residency Affidavit must be notarized and returned to the Undergraduate Admissions office. A copy can be sent via email to admissions.residency@ttu.edu or uploaded via the student's RaiderConnect account. This only needs to be submitted once upon applying for admission to Texas Tech.
All male U.S. citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required by law to register with Selective Service.
2023-2024 TASFA requires the 2021 Tax Return (signed) or 2021 Tax Return Transcript for student and parent(s).
2024-2025 TASFA requires the 2022 Tax Return (signed) or 2022 Tax Return Transcript for student and parent(s).
Form W-2 and/or signed statement of earnings may be provided in lieu of Tax Return or Transcript if taxes were not filed.
