Texas Tech University's Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management Degree leads the industry with help from internships in the field to hands on class experience

Texas Tech University's Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management B.S. program is not only proudly ranked a top 100 program by QS World University Rankings, but also accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA). Students can expect a multidisciplinary approach to hospitality, with hands on experience, professional levels of networking opportunities, studying abroad in different countries as well as additional hours in our HEB culinary labs and state-of-the-art classroom kitchens. Students are provided at least 1,200 hours of practical career-focused experience, including a 400-hour off campus internship. RHIM students receive substantial preparation in accounting, marketing, finance, law and of course, management.

Texas Tech's RHIM program has had a long relationship with the Overton Hotel and Conference Center, less than a mile away from campus, and own along with operating the recently renovated Skyviews of Texas Tech Restaurant. Thousands of Restaurant and Hotel based degree graduates have gone into the workforce themselves, giving students a built-in network of contacts. The Hospitality and Retail Management Career Fair provides face-to-face networking with business owners and professionals for future opportunities for undergraduates after graduation. Other business executives from around 50 major hospitality companies visit campus each semester, actively recruiting students from the program.

Along with specialized experience, there are 5 different undergraduate certificates that help students with their decided career path, such as a Teacher Certification for those interested in teaching hospitality at the junior and high school level. From these offered certificates, Texas Tech's RHIM program has a highly successful job placement rate. Hospitality industry employers recruit our graduates aggressively for careers such as food and beverage directors, sommeliers, hotel managers, executive chefs and many more. Due to the vast alumni network, many graduates receive job offers before graduation. Marriott, Pappas Restaurant Group, and Aimbridge are all companies our students have gone on to work for. With the program emphasizing both problem solving and creativity, students can expect to be properly prepared for the workforce.
