Gugulethu Moyo

Bio
Gugulethu Moyo (Gugu) is a Postdoctoral Research Associate within the Global Health Program at Princeton University. She obtained her BSc in Nutrition from the University of Zimbabwe and her MSc in International Public Health Nutrition at London Metropolitan University. She came to Texas Tech University in 2018, when she joined Dr. Wilna Oldewage-Theron's Community Nutrition and Health Interventions (CNHI) Lab as a Fulbright Scholar. During her doctoral studies, she was a Graduate Instructor for the “Fieldwork in Food and Nutrition,” a service-learning course offered by the Department of Nutritional Science. Gugu also received numerous awards including a Doctoral Dissertation Completion Fellowship from Texas Tech University and a Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award. Gugu's dissertation explored the social and nutritional determinants of favorable fetal growth conditions in pregnant women living in South Africa. She now seeks to carry out implementation research that leverages traditional ecological knowledge, to improve the food and nutrition security status of pregnant and lactating women in Kenya and Zimbabwe, and to explore the chrononutrition of human milk, and its role in infant health.
