Bio

Caitlyn is currently a Ph.D. student in Nutritional Biochemistry and Physiology under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Shin. She graduated Summa cum Laude from Texas Tech University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Professional Health and Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics, as well as minors in Chemistry and Molecular Biology. Caitlyn is president of the Graduate Nutrition Organization, a student organization involved in community outreach and volunteer events. Caitlyn has also served as the Student Legislative Liaison of the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as a Student Ambassador of the Involvement and Leadership Development organization. Her current research involves studying the neuroendocrine mechanism of insulin resistance associated with branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism in type 2 diabetes and obesity using surgical, molecular, and pharmacological approaches.
