Marie Mattern

Bio

Marie Mattern is a third-year B.S Biochemistry Major with a minor in Biology at Texas Tech University. She moved to Lubbock, Texas in August 2017 from her hometown Celebration, Florida. Currently, she is involved in many organizations such as The Goin' Band, Zeta Tau Alpha, American Medical Student Association (AMSA), CISER, and Pi^2. Within the College of Human Sciences under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Shin, she is researching the metabolic effects Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass surgery (RYGB) has on the Nucleus Accumbens (NAcc) area of the brain within mice consuming a high-fat diet.
