Sara is a Research Assistant and PhD student at the Obesity and Metabolic Health Lab. She earned both her B.S. and M.S. in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics from Iran. Prior to her doctoral studies, Sara worked as a dietitian in clinics and hospitals for six years. She began her PhD studies in the Fall 2022 under the guidance of Dr. Dhurandhar and Dr. Hegde. Her research is primarily focused on the preclinical development of Insparin, an adenoviral protein with potential as an anti-diabetic treatment aimed at improving hyperglycemia. Currently, her emphasis is on optimizing the nanoparticle-mediated delivery of Insparin. Leveraging her background in clinical nutrition, Sara voluntarily contributes to clinical research at the Nutrition and Metabolic Health Initiative. Additionally, she serves as the Social Media Liaison and Social Events Chair for the Graduate Nutrition Organization at Texas Tech University.
