Texas Tech University

Letter From the Superintendent

Dear TTU K-12 Community,

Texas Tech students are back! Parking lots, buses and classrooms are busy again. Watching new freshmen on their own for the first time reminds many of us that sending kids off to college can trigger feelings of worry. But we know that TTU faculty and staff do a good job of watching out for our students.

I also know some of the parents in our K-12 program feel the same sense of worry. Although the situations are different, the premise is similar. As educators at a distance, we still have that responsibility of caring for the students in our classrooms. At TTU K-12, whether you are a teacher or support staff, thank you for all that you do to watch out for our students.

The migration from Moodle to Blackboard is almost complete, and training is underway for our automated proctoring system. This proctoring system is a game-changer and will expand the students' flexibility as to when and where they can take an exam. In the past, students scheduled with proctors to have this service. Now students will be able to take their exam and utilize an online system to proctor their test. Imagine that student taking a test at 2:30 a.m. or in a place where finding a qualified proctor is a challenge. This facet of our online education service is going to be well-received by students and parents alike.

Another emphasis right now is cybersecurity and safety. Reach out to us if you have any concerns as this topic is very important to our community.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 3-1 at the time of this writing and the buzz is positive. The Goin' Band prepares every day for its Saturday performances, and the sound is magnificent. It is a great time to be a Red Raider!

Come see us,
