TTU K-12 To Offer College Entrance Test Prep

By Leslie Cranford, Section Manager

As high school or even junior high students look ahead to college, the entrance testing may be daunting. The two main entrance exams are the ACT and SAT.

In the near future, TTU K-12 students will be able to prepare for those tests with the EdReady tool available through a partnership with NROC. NROC provides a web-based math and English tool specifically designed to improve college readiness, retention and completion.

According to Tracy Clanton-Smith, Blackboard support and instructional technologist for TTU K-12, the hope is to have the prep tool go live early in the spring semester.

"EdReady will be a fantastic resource for our students looking to improve their English and math skills in preparing for college readiness," Clanton-Smith said. "This tool will meet our students where they are and allow them to work to improve their test scores."

Clanton-Smith listed the student goals/scope that have been set within the TTU K-12 EdReady website for students to access, once student accounts are set up and ready:

  • ACT Math Prep
  • College English Readiness
  • College Math Readiness
  • SAT English Prep
  • SAT Math Prep
  • Texas Success Initiative Test Prep (TSI)

TTU K-12 and the NROC Project share similar missions to support student success and address the particular needs of non-traditional students, who may be underprepared for first-year, college-level coursework.
