With the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic now a full year in the past, and the end not quite yet in sight, TTU K-12 administrators are making flexible plans for an in-person graduation ceremony on May 22 on the Texas Tech campus in Lubbock.
"We'll be back in the beautiful McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center," said Principal Cari Moye. "We're also having it a bit earlier this year, due to ongoing challenges with venues, as a result of COVID. But we're excited to be making flexible plans for 2021!"
In order to attend graduation, a student must obtain permission from Moye. Students are asked to email their request with "Commencement" in the subject line. Deadlines and other requirements for attending the ceremony this spring, along with information on ordering cap and gown, yard signs, and other information will be updated on the Graduation Planning page. If a student is eligible, they will receive an email with an acceptance letter and further information about the commencement ceremony.
Moye added that the health and safety of everyone involved will be of the utmost importance when planning the spring ceremony.
"We're planning around all of the current state and local protocols regarding COVID-19, including requiring masks, temperature checks and distancing," Moye said.
Check the TTU K-12 Graduation Planning page or find the latest updates on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
If you're a 2020 or 2021 senior, would you consider attending an in-person ceremony
