The hallmark of TTU K-12's international program is the concurrent diploma that many students earn taking their home country curriculum and Texas Tech University High School courses simultaneously.
Giulia Marques, a senior at Open Center, city of Ribeirão Preto in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, is one of the dozens of students in that country completing the program each year.
Guilia says one of the things she has enjoyed most in the program is the opportunity she has to learn many subjects from a point of view different from the one she is used to.
“However, the biggest challenge for me is balancing my usual school schedule with the one from the American program,” she added.
Giulia admits she's still figuring out what she wants to do next academically, but she knows having diplomas in two cultures and languages will be helpful.
“Even though I am not sure what my goals are, I am sure that the program will help in many instances,” Giulia said.
When she's not tackling two school schedules in two languages, Giulia likes to hang out with friends and enjoys reading, painting and listening to music.
For students considering the concurrent diploma track, she also has words of wisdom.
“I would say that if they are actually interested in a different learning experience from one they are used to, they should do the program.”
