Kayla began working for Texas Tech University in 2006 as a student recruiter for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Dean's Office. In 2007, she transitioned to the role of coordinator of student and alumni programs within the Department of Animal and Food Sciences. She is directly responsible for over 400 students visiting campus each year for events and programs she oversees. In addition to recruiting, she teaches senior seminar, is the Block and Bridle Club adviser, oversees fundraising for judging teams, finds internships for students, and organizes banquets. She also advises 50 students each semester.
Kayla has proven to be an important and productive member of the department staff. According to Dr. Sam Jackson, "she has clearly excelled in promoting Texas Tech and giving valuable advice to our students. [She] is a dedicated teacher, a concerned advisor, a tireless promoter of Texas Tech University, and continues to work diligently to encourage top students to choose Animal Science as a major."
