Graduate Writing Center
The Graduate Writing Center (GWC) is dedicated to developing graduate students' and postdoctoral fellows' writing and research skills.
The GWC brings together scholars with disparate backgrounds, interests, and talents to foster the effective communication skills and spirit of intellectual inquiry central to graduate study.
We offer consultations up to six days a week during the fall, spring, May intersession,
and summer semesters. Learn more about our hours and space in Weeks Hall.
One-to-one consultations are a great opportunity to develop your writing with our
experienced consultants. Learn more and schedule your consultation here!
Graduate writing consultants are from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. Take
a moment to get to know the peers and professionals who will be working with you on
your writing.
Sometimes writers just need the accountability of sharing a space with others to make
progress toward writing goals. Does this sound like you? You might be a good fit for
a writing group.
Our Thesis and Dissertation Boot Camps are designed to help graduate writers make
progress toward completion. Find out more about our boot camps and writing retreats
here.
The GWC hosts several interactive workshops on topics valuable to graduate students
and post-docs. You can find more information about our current workshops here, including
how to register.
Throughout the semester we offer several opportunities to strengthen our writing skills
and write together. Learn more about our one-time and recurring special programs here!
You've got questions; we've got answers. Read more about our mission, values, and
consultations here.
The GWC will gladly host writing workshops or information sessions in your classroom.
Just send us a request!
Do you know someone who would make a great GWC consultant or student assistant? Learn
more or apply here!
Are you looking for handouts and other writing support? You can find helpful guides
for organization, grammar, paraphrasing, and more here.
We can help with various citation styles, but the Graduate School's thesis and dissertation
division can help you with final document formatting.
