About Us
Welcome to the Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development Center (TLPDC) at Texas Tech University. We are ecstatic that you are here! For decades, the TLPDC has had a singular vision to be a place built for faculty, by faculty. Our primary mission is to support this institutions commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and growth. Through a variety of different paths, you found your way to Texas Tech University; our goal is work with you, side by side, to bring the absolute best out of you.
Whether it is our incredible programming, thoughtful workshops led by campus experts, or influential conferences and speaker series filled with national leaders, we have something for you. Here at the TLPDC we work hard to not only stay on the forefront of best practices of teaching, learning, and professional growth, but also strive to keep an active pulse on the unique needs that faculty have right here at Texas Tech.
I hope you spend some time on our resource filled website where you can find our upcoming events, important resources for faculty, as well as our programming. I personally have been a direct beneficiary to all that the TLPDC has to offer. I would invite you to strongly consider joining some of our programming listed below. As they did for me, they will make you a better professional and person:

Faculty Mentorship Academy: Connect with experienced colleagues to build supportive, developmental relationships
that accelerate your academic career and foster a deep sense of campus belonging.
Great for new and experienced faculty!

Institute for Faculty Excellence: Reinvigorate your academic journey through an immersive, cohort-based experience
specifically designed to combat burnout and cultivate conscious, compassionate leadership.

STEP Faculty & Student Partnerships Program: Elevate your STEM courses by mastering Evidence-Based Instructional Practices (EBIPs)
to create active, dynamic classrooms.
Teaching Mentoring Through Peer Observation: Discover fresh pedagogical insights through a collaborative, non-evaluative peer
observation model that champions psychological safety and instructional growth.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: Prioritize your holistic well-being with evidence-based mindfulness strategies designed
to reduce professional strain and enhance your daily focus.
STEP Learning Assistants Program: Transform massive, passive lectures into highly
engaging learning environments by deploying trained undergraduate peers to facilitate
real-time, student-to-student instruction
Beyond our website, I hope you come and visit us in our physical location at the Texas Tech Library where we are open 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. As you enter through the main entrance of the library (near the Student Union Building) you will walk by Sams Place Café on right. Upon passing through the second set of doors you will see the library front desk on your left. Simply turn right at this junction and you will see our large sign: Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development Center. Stay to the left of the sign and head through the doors that are titled Admin Offices. From there you will be greeted by our warm team where you will be offered a Coke or water and then connected with whatever you may need.
The TLPDC is uniquely built for you. Swing by, say hello, and see all that we have to offer to help you reach new heights as a faculty member and person.
Wreckem, Tech!
