New Faculty Orientation

Welcome to Texas Tech University! The Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development Center is pleased to host Texas Tech University’s New Faculty Orientation. This process is designed to help you make a smooth transition into your faculty role, and there are several important components of this program.

Online Resources and Training

The first components of New Faculty Orientation begin with online resources and compliance training videos. You will be receiving additional information about these resources via email. We have also compiled a list of frequently asked questions from new faculty with answers and links to resources.

Orientation Day

On Thursday, August 20, 2026  the TLPDC, in conjuction with the Office of the Provost, will host the face-to-face portion of New Faculty Orientation at the Museum of Texas Tech. Please note that this day is mandatory for all new faculty who are teaching traditional 16-week courses, including tenure-eligible and non-tenure eligible. This orientation represents a very important opportunity for you to become acquainted with information about the university and network with new colleagues from across campus. 

• New faculty members whose point of duty is in Lubbock should plan to attend mandatory New Faculty Orientation in person at the Museum of Texas Tech. 
• New faculty members whose point of duty is not in Lubbock will be given a virtual option for this portion of New Faculty Orientation.

New Faculty Workshop Series

The fall workshop series is the final requirement you will need to complete in the New Faculty Orientation process. This workshop series will offer topics of interest to new faculty representing resources and departments from around the university. New faculty will need to attend a minimum of 3 workshops at the TLPDC during their first semester at TTU. Planning for our workshop series is still on-going, and details for upcoming sessions will be available soon on our events page.

• Spring 2027 - Tuesday, January 12, 2027 at the Teaching, Learning & Professional Development Center
• Fall 2027 - Thursday, August 19, 2027 at the Museum of Texas Tech
