Robert Morehead is the Director of the Preston Gott Observatory and an Instructor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy and was a 2017 STEP Fellow. His teaching interests center on the implementation of technology-assisted active learning techniques, such as think-pair-share and collaborative two-phase exams, to maximize student engagement in large, general education astronomy courses, as well as providing authentic astronomical research experiences for developing STEM students through Texas Tech's observatory facilities. He is also interested in developing interdisciplinary science curricula that focus on science as a process, applications of critical thinking, and the intersection of science and society.
