Carson Maher, PhD
Program Manager - Developmental Literacy
“Students dont care how much you know until they know how much you care.” — Theodore Roosevelt
I am a Program Manager with the Texas Success Initiative at Texas Tech University. I earned my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Chemistry and my Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences, both from Texas Tech University, completing my doctorate in August 2024.
During my graduate studies, I conducted research focusing on strategies to improve dietary behaviors. My work included exploring ways to increase vegetable consumption by enhancing vegetable palatability and examining the relationships between nutrition, health outcomes, and behavioral factors. I also served as a Teaching Assistant for three years, supporting various graduate and undergraduate courses in the Nutritional Sciences department, both online and in person.
Outside of work, I enjoy experimenting with new recipes, playing disc golf, and spending time with my wife and baby girl. I am dedicated to creating an environment where students feel supported and empowered to succeed while developing critical rhetorical skills that can be used in professional and day-to-day life.
