Texas Tech University

Thisari Mahanama, M.S.

I am proud to call Texas Tech University my alma mater like my two sisters, I carry the Red Raider spirit, and I am honored to serve the university community as a Program Manager in Statistics & Developmental Mathematics within the College Readiness team. I earned my Master of Science in Statistics from Texas Tech and continue to advance my studies in statistics and financial mathematics, further strengthening my expertise while supporting student success.

Before this role, I served as a graduate part-time instructor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, teaching MATH 2300. This experience gave me firsthand insight into how students feel when navigating challenging math and statistics concepts and fueled my passion for helping students approach these topics with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

In my work, I focus on meeting students where they are and breaking down complex statistical concepts into approachable, meaningful steps. I believe that building confidence is just as important as mastering content, and I strive to create a learning environment that is supportive, encouraging, and centered on growth. Statistics doesn’t have to be intimidating it can be empowering when students see that they can make sense of the data in front of them.

This journey inspires my commitment to teaching, mentoring, and helping students connect mathematical concepts to real-world problems. My goal is to make learning approachable, engaging, and rewarding for every student at Texas Tech and beyond.
