Dr. Jessica Thomas was born and raised in West Texas. Her family farmed and raised club lambs in Welch, Texas. She had a livestock show career in club lambs, steers, goats, and pigs as well as horses. Jessica was heavily involved in both 4-H and FFA and even served District 2 on the Texas 4-H Council. She chose to be a Red Raider for her undergraduate career. While at Texas Tech, she served as an Ag Ambassador and Agri Techsan, was a member of the Livestock and Wool Judging teams and other CASNR student organizations. She graduated from Texas Tech, Magna Cum Laude, in 2005 with a B.S. in Animal Science. From there, Jessica went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2009. Dr. Thomas came back home to West Texas and began her professional career as a mixed animal practitioner at West Plains Veterinary Hospital in Levelland, Texas. Currently, Jessica practices rural veterinary medicine at College Avenue Animal Clinic in Levelland and has a large animal mobile practice. In 2019, she joined the faculty at Texas Tech University as an instructor and offers courses in Domestic Animal Anatomy, Clinical Veterinary Sciences and Honors Anatomy. Dr. Thomas served on the steering committee for the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine and is a faculty advisor for the upcoming collegiate chapter of the Texas CattleWomen's Association.  Jessica married her livestock judging teammate, Kurt Thomas from Gold Creek, Montana.  They have 2 beautiful girls that they are raising in agriculture while running club calf cows in Wolfforth, Texas and Hereford cattle in Montana.
