Students interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine are rencouraged to major in Animal Science with a Science Concentration. This concentration is designed to best prepare students for graduate school and serves as the core concentration for all the pre-professional options students can choose within the department. Additional Information

Texas Tech University

  • Applicants must be residents of Texas or New Mexico. Up to 10% of the student body may be New Mexico residents.
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

Texas A&M University

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
  • Genetics, Animal Nutrition, Biochemistry and Statistics must be completed at a four-year institution only.
  • For Entry Year 2026, only 4 hours of Physics will be required, rather than 8 hours.
