Texas Tech Rodeo Team Members Advance to College NFR

STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS – The Texas Tech University Rodeo Team competed April 22-24 in Stephenville at the Tarleton State University NIRA Rodeo.
In bareback bronc riding, Luke Creasy finished strong at the final rodeo of the year by placing first in go round one. Creasy outscored the second place competition by 635 points. C.J. Kerr also won the title of reserve regional champion steer wrestler and both Kerr and Creasy will advance to the national championships in Casper, Wyo. June 13-19, 2010.
Teammate Logan Allen qualified in three events for the finals by placing fourth in go round one of bull riding and finishing in the top ten of both the team roping and bareback riding events. The Crescent, Iowa native finished third in the region's all-around standings and fifth in the saddle bronc riding standings.
Overall, the Texas Tech Men's Rodeo Team finished third out of sixteen schools for the 2009-2010 school year.
The Women's Rodeo Team was also successful at the rodeo, finishing fourth in the Southwest Region year-end standings.
Individually, Taylor Langdon of Sanger, Texas finished fourth in the go-round one and then placed first in the finals and first overall in barrel racing. Her teammate Dani McGuire of Odessa, Texas placed fourth in the first go-round of breakaway calf roping and finished fifth overall.
Senior member Erica Creswell secured third in goat-tying and will also travel with the men's team members to the 62nd Annual College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo. this summer.
