Bridge Adventure

Bridge Adventure is a program for Texas Tech University students that uses outdoor excursions, mentored research, and service learning to engage students in leadership development, community service, career exploration, and environmental stewardship.

About Bridge Adventure

Bridge Adventure is a program for Texas Tech University undergraduate students aimed at promoting leadership development through transformative learning experiences related to the natural environment. Students selected for the program will participate in a two-year cohort that will engage in outdoor learning experiences. During the program, students will participate in experiential learning excursions. Bridge Adventure is a federally funded program; therefore, participation comes at no cost to students, other than a commitment of their time.

Experiential Learning Excursions

Bridge Adventure will include outdoor excursions as a vehicle for developing perseverance and socially responsible leadership in individuals, as well as a strong sense of community among cohorts. Students will follow a pattern of preparation, execution, and reflection for each excursion. Undergraduates will participate in three types of experiential learning trips each year: mentored field research, adventure excursions, and service learning.

Bridge Adventure Course

A new feature of the program starting with the 2026-2027 cohort is the introduction of a Bridge Adventure-specific course. While this course will not meet every week like other courses, it will include the scheduled monthly activities, meetings, and excursions associated with the program. Students selected for the program will enroll in a 1-hour special problems course that will apply to their unique degree program on campus.

Scholarship

Bridge Adventure participants will receive a scholarship to offset the tuition cost of the program course.
