Simek named PSS greenhouse complex manager
An experienced horticulturist from Lubbock has been selected as manager of Texas Tech's Department of Plant and Soil Science greenhouse complex, Tom Thompson, professor and chairman for the department, said today (Mar. 12). Jennifer Simek began her duties Mar. 1.
"I'm looking forward to using my experience managing institutional greenhouses as I support our faculty in their research efforts," Simek said. "The horticulture greenhouse and gardens have the potential to be a rich teaching resource and an inspiration to the community. It's exciting to have the opportunity to expand and refine the collections to fit the needs of our department."
Prior to joining the Plant and Soil Science staff, Simek worked for Tech's Department of Biological Sciences for more than eight years as their greenhouse manager. The Lubbock native received her bachelor's degree in botany and a master's degree in agribusiness from Texas A&M University.
