Capital Farm Credit
Position: Summer Internships for Capital Farm Credit (Paid Internships)
Location: Six of the Internships will be in local credit offices; One will be in our Bryan Corporate Financial Operations; One will be in our Austin Core Credit Operations which encompasses credit activity across the Association territory. These locations are anticipated to be available for summer 2014 but are subject to change. If changed, all applicants for the position will be notified of the change and alternate locations, if any. Candidates who want to apply for multiple locations are encouraged to do so, however, a separate application, resume, cover letter and faculty recommendations are required for each location.
Qualifications: High School Diploma and enrollment at an accredited university in at least a Bachelor's Degree Program. Student should be of good academic standing and enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate Student in a major field of study related to finance, agribusiness, accounting, business administration, ag economics or a similar field of study. Candidate must complete an online application and resume. Also include a cover letter (can include with the resume) explaining interest in the internship, and any information that uniquely qualifies the candidate for consideration. Faculty recommendations are preferred and should be included with the cover letter and resume. The intern will be responsible for locating within a reasonable commuting distance of the internship location and responsible for living expenses throughout the term of the internship.
Purpose/Scope: These are paid intern position for the summer of 2014. This job will begin approximately June 1 and will conclude approximately August 15. Six of these positions are within our credit operations area. These interns will participate in the daily operations of the credit office and obtain exposure and insight to the work of loan officers, analysts, appraisers and administrators. By the conclusion of the internship, the candidate will be able to input and analyze loans processed by the Association. The Austin Core Credit position will work within that department as they review loans submitted throughout the Association and assist Association credit offices in loan development and analysis. The Bryan Corporate Finance position will work closely within the financial operations of the Association with the Chief Financial Officer and associated staff. This intern will gain an understanding of loan funding, loan pricing, asset/liability management, and loan accounting along with other financial practices of the Association.
Skills: Previous work experience in financial industry is helpful but not required. Evidence of leadership skills is preferred. Incumbent should have strong computer skills and an understanding of Microsoft Office Products and other computer applications. Should be team oriented, cooperative and show a strong work ethic.
Essential Functions: Focus of the internships will be on the credit operations in a Capital Farm Credit Branch Office (7 positions) and Corporate Financial Operations (1 position). The incumbent will work under the close supervision of designated officers to learn and execute credit and financial strategies of the Association.
Other: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to stand for limited periods of time. Ability to walk for moderate distances. Frequent finger/hand manipulation (e.g. keyboard, office equipment, small hand tools, etc.). Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling while exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Requires a valid driver's license. Compliance with Association and FCBT technology and security standards is required.
