GALLERY: Advisory Board meets to review programs, track future direction
Enrollment growth, facility improvements and new program development were in the spotlight as Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Advisory Board met in a special session prior to the start of the university's fall academic semester. The morning session was held on Friday (Aug. 26) at Tech's International Cultural Center. The gathering included a university overview by Michael Galyean, Tech's new interim provost and senior vice president; and a review of CASNR's programs by Steve Fraze, a long-time professor and noted agricultural educator, who was named the academic unit's interim dean earlier this month. The college's department chairs then presented vision and update presentations on their individual programs. Later in the session CASNR's Director of Development and External Relations, Jane Piercy, outlined a wide-range of activities from a financial overview to a construction update on the development office's new headquarters area in the Goddard Building. The program ended with department and advisory board group meetings. The CASNR Advisory Board is comprised of 21 members who represent the college's departments, along with the college's development and alumni relations office. While members come from varied backgrounds, all share a desire to serve the college and to further the aims and goals of the departments. This, in turn, is expected to improve the resources available to CASNR and its students.
