Applied Linguistics Graduate Minor
Applied Linguistics is offered as a minor for students who may find that either second language acquisition studies or second language instruction studies (or a combination) a useful complement to their major area of work. A doctoral minor consists of 18 hours of applied linguistics (LING) courses offered through the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures, as approved by the Program Director of Applied Linguistics. A minor at the master’s level consists of 6 hours of applied linguistics courses, as approved by the Program Director of Applied Linguistics.

Mathematics and Statistics

Applied Mathematics Graduate Minor
The minor in Applied Mathematics is an option available to all graduate students who are enrolled in a master’s or doctoral level program in STEM disciplines, including, but not limited to, science and engineering. The main goal is to familiarize the student with contemporary fields of applied mathematics, such as applied algebra and analysis, control theory, machine learning, scientific computing, statistical analysis, data science, and related areas.

Sociology Graduate Minor
The graduate minor in Sociology is designed for students to learn more about the practice, theory, content, and methods of Sociology. Students may take six credits through any two distinct, non-repeatable courses at the 5000-level that have a SOC prefix.
