ASCAP
Arts & Sciences Committee for Academic Programs

ASCAP’s mission is to consider proposed changes and updates to the curriculum of the College of Arts & Science (A&S). The ASCAP committee is composed of A&S faculty, and convened by an Associate Dean. ASCAP reviews A&S proposals for additions, changes, and removals of courses, degrees, and programs. In reviewing these proposals, the committee asks departments and faculty to articulate each proposal’s place in the department’s  curriculum, the suitability for its discipline, and its value for students. In addition, proposers are also asked to ensure that proposals do not duplicate course offerings outside their department, or otherwise create conflicts.

By offering constructive feedback, the committee seeks to help proposers strengthen their proposals as they move through the approval process.

Ultimately, ASCAP serves as the A&S advisory committee that makes recommendations to TTU’s Academic Council, which makes final decisions about all TTU curricula.
