Eric Winter serves as the Reservoir Engineering Manager at VTX Energy Partners, a privately held oil and gas exploration and production company based in Austin, TX. At VTX, Eric evaluates potential acquisitions and optimizes the development of multi-billion-dollar oil and gas assets.

Eric grew up in Austin and was inspired to enter the oil and gas industry by his parents and his uncle, Fred Winter, a landman. Eric graduated magna cum laude in 2012 from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering and a minor in Mechanical Engineering. While at Texas Tech, Eric held leadership positions in the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Drilling Engineers, Engineering Ambassadors, and Tau Beta Pi. Eric has continued to support Texas Tech students since graduation through recruiting, mentoring, and giving technical presentations.

Eric began his career at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in The Woodlands, TX, as a reservoir engineer in the exploration group, helping with the early evaluation of the Eagle Ford and Utica shale plays. He then moved to the field in Anadarko’s Kermit and Midland offices, where he rotated between operations roles in production, facilities, drilling, and completions. Following his time at Anadarko, he held various reservoir roles at Diamondback Energy in Midland from 2018 to 2023.

Eric is a current member of the Petroleum Industry Advisory Board for the Bob L. Herd Department of Petroleum Engineering, as well as a member of the Executive Committee. Eric also served as a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Permian Basin– where he was additionally a Big Brother–and for Midland Young Professionals in Energy.

In his personal life, Eric has been married to his wife, Alina, for 4 years, and they are proud parents to their 18-month-old daughter, Anya. Alina also earned her petroleum engineering degree from Texas Tech in 2018. Eric and Alina are active in their church, enjoy traveling, supporting TTU sports, and spending time with family and friends.
