Young Distinguished Engineer 2022

John G. Hall is the founding owner and current Chief Executive Officer of Flatland Energy Services, LLC—a leading oil and gas construction service company located in Midland, Texas.  Born in Abilene, Texas, John was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he still holds multiple sports records in Football and Track. Returning to his roots, John graduated from Texas Tech University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. While a student at Tech, John was an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers where he also served on its external committee.

Following graduation from Tech, John began his engineering career with Aggie Tech Oil. In 2017 John accepted a position as Director of Engineering Procurement and Construction with Solaris Water Midstream. During his tenure, John personally directed over $200 million in funds to build the premier gathering system in the Delaware basin. Always striving to achieve the next level of innovation and personal accomplishment, John founded Flatland Energy Services in 2019. Starting with only three employees, he prophetically transformed this energy services company into an innovative petroleum engineering dynasty with over 200 employees and $58 million in annual revenue. Flatland, with John at the helm, continues to seek and develop opportunities in the Permian Basin both directly and tangentially related to the Petroleum Industry.

John, an avid and vocally proud Red Raider, continues to serve the Tech Community through his work and sponsorship of Young Guns in the Midland and surrounding areas. Additionally, John is actively committed to the communities Flatland serves through multiple sponsorships in charitable organizations including county livestock shows, school booster programs, and charity golf events.

John is married to the former Roxanne Shumway from Lubbock, Texas. They have four daughters:  Kennedy (6), Everly (4), Tenley (2) and Reagan (5 mos). As if this is not enough, John is also active in his church, enjoys traveling, supporting TTU sports, and spending time with his family and friends.
