Deciding What Technology to Bring Abroad
Know Your Coverage
- You will be automatically enrolled in travel and medical insurance with OnCall International. Your insurance card will be uploaded to your TTU Study Abroad application, where you can read more about coverage for loss of personal belongings. you should bring.

not you need to bring a laptop or tablet.

Smartphones Abroad
It is strongly recommended that you bring a smartphone capable of international calling and data (some programs require you to bring a smartphone) in the event of an emergency. Please consider the following information:
- Unlocking a Smartphone & Using a Local SIM
- Check with professors or program coordinator to confirm what technology you should bring
- International Plans Through US-Based Carriers
- Check with your program provider and supervisor to confirm whether or not you need to bring a laptop or tablet.
- Purchase a Phone & Plan Abroad
