The department is pleased to welcome Dr. Carla Lacerda as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Lacerda earned her Ph.D. from Colorado State University in Chemical Engineering with a focus on metal resistance in microbial communities. After completion of her Ph.D., Dr. Lacerda transitioned from environmental to biomedical science. Her current research is aimed at understanding the effects of mechanical stimuli on heart valves.
