Two Civil Engineering Alumni Inducted As Distinguished Engineers

Aubrey Brockman and T. Lynn Lovell inducted as 2024 Young Distinguished Engineer and Distinguished Engineer.

Civil Engineering graduate Aubrey M. Brockman, P.E., has been inducted as Young Distinguished Engineer. She is an Associate and Practice Builder at Kimley-Horn & Associates.

She serves as the chair of CECE Advisory Council and was inducted by the Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering Academy in 2022. She also serves on the Wolfforth TIRZ Board and the Lubbock Lemonade Board. She loves working with Texas Tech and help provide opportunities to the next generation. Aubrey leads the development services practice for West Texas and works with clients across the state to find creative ways to make their projects possible through alternative real estate financing methods. Throughout the year, you can find her in schools getting younger students excited about engineering.

Civil Engineering graduate Troy Lynn Lovell has been inducted as a Distinguished Engineer. He is a retired Vice President for Halff Associates, Inc. After joining Halff in January 1981, Lynn was responsible for launching their Fort Worth office. He has served as an expert witness in more than 40 flooding or drainage-related cases, conducted training classes for over 3000 students, conducted 40 classes on engineering ethics, and authored or co-authored more than 100 technical papers.

Troy Lynn Lovell, PE, D.WRE, CFM

He has served multiple leadership roles, including President of the ASCE Fort Worth Branch and the Texas Section Vice President for Technical Affairs. He was designated as Diplomate by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers, an ASCE Fellow, and was inducted into Texas Tech Civil Engineering Academy in 1990.

He has received multiple awards, including the Roy D. Sedwick Award (Texas Floodplain Managers Association), the Professional Service Award (ASCE Texas), the William C. Ackerman Medal for Excellence in Water Management (AWRA), and Distinguished Engineer of the Foundation (TSPE). Lynn has been an active recruiter of Red Raiders for Halff, with more than 100 recruitments, including 10 holding senior leadership positions. He was also responsible for the establishment of Halff's Texas Tech Civil Engineering Endowed Scholarship in 1999 ($130,000 in 2023).
