Texas Tech Engineering Professor Named AAAS Fellow

Ravindra Joshi joins the distinguished list of scientists honored with fellowship by the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Ravindra Joshi, a professor in Texas Tech University's Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, has been inducted as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). 

The AAAS is the world's largest general scientific society. Joshi joins 502 scientists, engineers and innovators spanning all 24 AAAS disciplinary sections in the class of 2023.

“This appointment is a great acknowledgement of the contributions Dr. Joshi has made to his discipline over the course of his career,” said Vice President for Research & Innovation Joseph Heppert. “He is extremely deserving of this prestigious recognition of his achievements.”

Joshi, a professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, focuses his research on pulsed power, high field transport and semiconductor modeling, electrophysics and bio-electrics. 

Previously, he has been honored as a fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Physics, the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. 

“I am grateful to the committee for this honor and distinction,” Joshi said. “I am also very thankful to my colleagues at Texas Tech for their support, camaraderie and joint research interactions. Texas Tech's commitment to excellence within its faculty has been instrumental in fostering a collaborative environment for scientific investigations.”
