
Texas Tech IMSE PhD Student Honored as 'Student Member with Honors' at HFES Annual Meeting for Outstanding Contributions to Human Factors and Ergonomics
Viviana Dos Santos, a PhD student in Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Texas Tech University in the Edward E. Whitacre College of Engineering, has been recognized as a "Student Member with Honors" at the 2024 Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ. Established in 1999, this prestigious award acknowledges students who have made exceptional contributions to the field of human factors and ergonomics, or to HFES, during their academic career.
Viviana's achievements include her groundbreaking research on firefighter situation awareness and her dedicated leadership in both the Texas Tech student chapter and HFES. This award not only highlights her individual accomplishments but also marks a milestone for the department of Industrial Engineering, as Viviana is the first TTU IMSE student to receive this honor.
