Akhilesh Shakya has been named the 2024-2025 outstanding faculty mentor

Akhilesh Shakya, assistant professor of practice in bioengineering at the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering has been named the 2024–2025 Outstanding Faculty Mentor for his commitment to guiding and supporting undergraduate researchers.

Shakya has made a lasting at Texas Tech University through his mentorship, leadership and dedication to student success. His recognition reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of research excellence and faculty engagement.

“I am happy to have been recognized as an Outstanding Faculty Mentor 2024–2025 for my efforts to support the Texas Tech undergraduate researchers,” said Shakya. “Mentoring students and helping them explore their potential through research is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”
