Texas Tech University’s IMSE department welcomes Dr. Burak Eksioglu as professor and chair.

The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing & Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Texas Tech University's Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering is excited to welcome Burak Eksioglu as professor and department chair. Bringing extensive experience, innovative thinking and proven leadership, Eksioglu adds a global perspective to the department’s teaching and research.

Originally from Turkey, Eksioglu’s academic career has been defined by influential research in mathematical optimization, with a particular focus on stochastic programming and combinatorial optimization. His work tackles real-world challenges in logistics, healthcare, energy systems and supply chain optimization consistently delivering solutions that boost efficiency and promote sustainability.

His research has earned funding from major federal agencies, including NASA, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Department of Homeland Security, along with collaborations with leading industry partners. Recognized as a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), Eksioglu is also an active member of INFORMS, POMS, ASEE and Tau Beta Pi, underscoring his commitment to advancing research and engineering education.

Outside of his academic work, Eksioglu enjoys running and hiking, pursuits that balance his professional life. He is also passionate about making homemade sourdough bread and yogurt, hobbies that reflect his precision, creativity and appreciation for tradition.
