Hanjun Park joins the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering starting this fall.
Hanjun Park joins the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering as an assistant professor at the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University this fall.
Park earned his earned a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech after completing a masters degree in industrial engineering at Seoul National University and a bachelors degree in industrial and systems engineering at Georgia Tech.
Parks research focuses on human motor adaptation and learning in response to emerging workplace intervention systems. He applies principles from biomechanics, human factors and ergonomics, motor control and data analytics to support the safe and effective integration of technologies such as occupational exoskeletons.
His work has been recognized with two Best Student Paper Awards from the Occupational Ergonomics Technical Group of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
When asked what advice he would give to students, Park said, “Engineering is about solving problems that matter. Often, the best research questions are closer than you think. Start with people and let them guide your curiosity and innovation.”
In his free time, Park enjoys playing tennis, skiing in the winter and exploring local coffee shops and restaurants.
Welcome to the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering, Dr. Park!
