Computer Science Orientation Information

We want to make sure that you have a smooth and productive Red Raider Orientation experience. Here are some things to do prior to attending your RRO Advising and Registration Session: 

Before Your RRO Session

Complete Your Online RRO Modules

  • There are 18 individual units composed of videos and text.
  • All of the modules will take around 60-90 minutes to complete.
  • The RRO Modules must be completed prior to your scheduled RRO for your Orientation hold to be resolved.

Prepare for Registration

  • Check for other registration holds and resolve them
  • Ensure TSI compliance
  • Complete Admitted Student Tasklist items
  • Complete the Chemistry and Math Placement Exams
  • Verify that you know your eRaider username and password, as well as your TTU email address, and you are able to login prior to arrival. This will prevent any delays during advising and course registration. Go to eRaider to login. If you've forgotten your username or password, utilize the Forgot Username or Forgot Password option.

    • You will also need the cell phone linked to your TTU account for 2-factor verification during registration.

Explore CS Advising Website

  • Watch the Visual Schedule Builder (VSB) tutorial video.
  • Review AP, IB, CLEP, and/or Dual Credit course work is on file with Texas Tech. 
    • In Raiderlink you can view your Unofficial Transcript. 
    • If you are missing credit, TTU either hasn't received the score report from College Board or the official transcript if you took college-level credit.

During Your RRO Session

A full example schedule for Red Raider Orientation is available for first year students HERE, and transfer students HERE. Below are some highlights:

Check-In

  • Where? - Texas Tech's Student Union Building (SUB).
  • Pick up all your Red Raider Orientation items and officially check in for your orientation session.
  • Stop by the WCOE table to get checked in with your college and sort out how to make the most of RRO!

Opening Session

  • Also in the Student Union Building (SUB).
  • All should attend, this is your official welcome to Texas Tech!

College Welcome

  • Immediately following the Opening Session.
  • All students must attend and will be led from the Opening Session to their College Welcome.
  • Learn more about the WCOE and get started with how to be successful at Texas Tech!

Advising & Registration

  • Advising and Registration Sessions will follow the College Welcome according to your first year or transfer RRO schedules.
  • All students must attend.
  • Location varies based on first year or transfer session.
  • Your CS advisor will be available to help with course planning and registration questions.
